News Year 10 classicists visit the Parthenon galleries 28.02.2025
On Thursday, Year 10 classicists enjoyed a visit to the British Museum to deepen their understanding of the Parthenon Sculptures and the Bassae Frieze – two of the prescribed sources for their Classical Civilisation GCSE. The trip provided a valuable opportunity to see these iconic artefacts up close, bringing to life their classroom studies of ancient Greek art and religion.
It was a peaceful and studious afternoon, with students taking time to carefully observe the sculptures and reliefs in the beautifully curated Parthenon galleries. Many took the opportunity to sketch the intricate details of the marble figures, while others made notes on the artistic techniques and mythological stories depicted.
The students approached the visit with curiosity, enthusiasm, and thoughtful engagement – a wonderful reflection of their passion for the subject.
