For September 2025
The Godolphin and Latymer School is one of the country’s leading independent day schools for girls, located on a six acre site in Hammersmith, London. The School’s facilities are excellent, making it an exciting place to learn and work. The students at Godolphin and Latymer receive unrivalled academic and pastoral support and outstanding examination results are achieved.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well-qualified Teacher of Economics to join the School from 1 September 2025 to teach across the school on a full-time or part-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Economics at Key Stage 5 (A Level and IB diploma).
The Economics Department is well established and successful and has experienced continued growth in interest to study the subject in the Sixth Form. A Level (Edexcel) and IB Economics (at both Standard and Higher Levels) are offered. The department offers a variety of extra-curricular extension activities including Economics Book Club, GAIN Investment Challenge, and PPE Forum, and many students participate in external essay competitions. Students are actively encouraged to challenge current mainstream perspectives, and the inquisitive and intelligent study body responds positively to intellectual engagement. Students will often pursue interests beyond the classroom and the specifications, making teaching stimulating and enjoyable.
The ability to work successfully as a member of an enthusiastic and proactive team, with an energetic and willing approach, is essential. The ability to teach A Level is essential; experience of teaching the IB, and/or experience of supporting applications to highly competitive university courses, would be desirable.
All staff are expected to contribute to the thriving extra-curricular programme on offer at the School.
The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.
Accommodation may be available for new staff in a local six-unit property.
For further information about our school and this role, please visit www.godolphinandlatymer.com. Fully completed application forms should be returned to recruitment@godolphinandlatymer.com as soon as possible.
Please note that applications must be made on the school’s application form. CVs alone will not be accepted.
The closing date for this vacancy is noon on Wednesday 15 January 2025.
It is anticipated that interviews will take place during the week commencing 20 January 2025.
All staff working in the School during the school day will have contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. As a teaching member of staff you will be working directly with, and be responsible for, the children that you teach. You are also likely to have contact with other pupils on a regular basis which may include specific pastoral or other responsibilities for pupils whom you do not teach.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
