News Summer Concert 2019 05.07.2019
On Tuesday the Bishop Centre was packed for our Summer Concert which featured performances from our larger musical ensembles and a number of chamber groups.
The Percussion Ensemble started off an evening of diverse musical pieces with a lively arrangement of ‘The Entertainer’ which featured brilliant marimba and xylophone skills. We had everything from Beethoven Scherzos to toe-tapping swing classics, to the Concert Band’s rendition of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and music from ‘Les Misérables and ‘La La Land’. The Junior Chamber Choir, in their last performance with Miss McCarthy, gave a confident a Capella performance of ‘Only You’.
Year 7 Ukulele Band are always a highlight of the summer concert and this year was no exception, with the sound of 40 students strumming and singing Bruno Mars’ ‘Count on Me’, demonstrating the progress they have made in just half a term of studying the ukulele. The student-led Year 10 a capella group showed their choreography skills alongside their singing with a stylish performance of ‘For The Longest Time’.
To finish the concert, the audience enjoyed a feast of Vaughan Williams’ music from the Senior Chamber Orchestra followed by the combined Year 7, 8 and 9 Choirs with the uplifting ‘You Will Be Found’.
