News PPE Forum: Professor Robert Hazell 22.11.2019
On Wednesday, Professor Robert Hazell of the Constitution Unit at University College London spoke at the PPE Forum.
Mr Hazell, who has been closely involved in constitutional reform throughout his career – having previously served as a senior civil servant in the Home Office – led a lively and wide-ranging discussion with around 23 girls from the Middle School and Sixth Form. He addressed such issues as whether the UK would benefit from codifying its constitution, whether the Queen was right to prorogue parliament, and whether the principle of parliamentary sovereignty has really been strengthened by recent events before fielding questions from the girls.
It was pleasing to see so many girls in attendance and we thank Professor Hazell for providing such valuable insight into British politics and the constitution.
