News Politics Society: Professor Sir Vernon Bogdanor discusses ‘Making the Weather’ 29.11.2024

On Friday lunchtime, the Politics Society welcomed British political scientist and historian Professor Sir Vernon Bogdanor to speak on his most recent book, Making the Weather.

Making the Weather explores the influence of politicians from outside the mainstream, such as Roy Jenkins, Tony Benn, Keith Joseph and Nigel Farage. Astrid in the Upper Sixth reflected that Professor Bogdanor had taught her the importance of communication in Politics if an individual wants to make an impact, and that it can often be those with unconventional style or ideas that are able to make more significant change in the long term. Following the lecture on these six change makers, in depth discussion and debate ensued with students asking for Bogdanor’s thoughts on current political challenges and individuals amongst other topics.
