News Parisian Triomphe! 30.10.2023
Our Year 11 French students had a memorable trip to Paris during half term with plenty of opportunities to practise their language skills ahead of their GCSEs. They worked hard in their morning lessons, appreciated the afternoon sight-seeing trips, and looked forward to their daily free time for shopping and coffees.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our French teachers to share their knowledge and enthusiasm and to show the girls the main Parisian attractions, from the bateau mouche ride down the Seine, to the climb up to Montmartre. There was much to marvel at including the master Impressionists at the Musée d’Orsay, the tranquillity of the Jardins de Luxembourg, the grandeur of the Louvre and Place des Vosges, as well as the stunning interiors of the Palais Garnier. One of the highlights was meeting the French pupils they had been writing to in the run-up to the trip, and they spent an afternoon at the Maison d’Éducation de la Légion d’honneur in Saint Denis. Once the students had been paired up with their correspondantes, they enjoyed a tour of the impressive buildings, parts of which date back to the 18th Century, followed by a delicious snack which they all enjoyed in the expansive grounds. It is wonderful to know that friendships were formed and cemented during this part of their trip.
Their teachers reported that the girls were a pleasure to spend time with; enthusiastic, good-natured and willing to go the extra mile to converse in French with their host families every evening. Thank you to everyone who made the trip such a success.
