News National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain 17.01.2022
At the end of last term, not one, not two, but three of our fantastic musicians heard that they had selected for the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, the world’s leading orchestra for teenage musicians: congratulations to Josie, Year 11, oboe; Isabell, Lower Sixth, violin; and Inez, Year 9, cello. Entry into the orchestra is highly competitive; auditions are held on an annual basis and attract the UK’s most musical young people to play in the orchestra and to perform electrifying programmes at top performance venues. The orchestra’s recent concert at the Barbican Centre, conducted by Sian Edwards and featuring works by Ravel and Rachmaninov, will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 at 7.30pm Tuesday 22 February.
