News Natalia Commended in Newnham College’s Biological Sciences Essay Competition 25.06.2020
Congratulations to Natalia in the Lower Sixth who received a commended award for her essay on how organoids are being used to understand fundamental biology questions in the Newnham College Biological Sciences Essay Competition.
All female students currently in the Lower Sixth at a UK school may enter the competition, which are offered in Biological Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, History, Modern and Medieval Languages, Music, Philosophy and Psychological and Behavioural Sciences.
Natalia had this to say on her essay:
‘My essay for the Biological Sciences Newnham College Competition was under the title “describe how organoids are being used to understand fundamental biology questions.” I explored how organoids are being used to better our understanding of cancers, human-microbiome interactions and, most significantly, what they may reveal about the evolutionary expansion of our brains that makes us so different to our primate relatives. It was a great experience; I definitely learnt a lot from my research and would recommend anyone thinking of entering next year to do so!’
