News Lower Sixth students make finals of Big Bang Competition 18.06.2021
Congratulations to Lower Sixth students Aya and Hannah who have made it to the finalist interview selection of the Big Bang Competition 2021.
The competition is designed to inspire inquisitive minds to think big, challenge facts, ask questions and invent solutions with the UK’s top science and engineering competition. Young inventors and experimenters, future game-changers and lifesavers have the opportunity to showcase the surprising ways to build a brighter, greener world.
Aya and Hannah’s entry, a futuristic concept of an indoor farm – functioning completely on a boat – saw them shortlisted for the finalist interview selection, with the winner announced on 23rd June. Speaking on their project, they said, ‘As global warming progresses and sea levels continue to rise, a lot of farmland will be lost. Along with this, our population is growing at a dramatic rate, as is the demand for food. The ‘Boat Farm’ combats both of these ideas by creating an alternative to traditional farming which can survive the rising sea levels and can successfully provide more food to the increasing population.
Congratulations to Hannah and Aya on their achievement. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for the 23rd!
