News Lower Sixth German Film Trip to the BFI 09.11.2023
On Wednesday 8 November, the Lower Sixth Germanists travelled to the British Film Institute (BFI) on the Southbank to explore prevalent themes in German cinema with a Sixth Form study day on ‘The Legacy of East Germany in film’.
Conducted all in German, the study day aimed to build students’ cultural capital, develop their vocabulary and improve their critical analysis skills by exploring key themes and styles in contemporary German cinema. Our pupils engaged keenly in the open discussions and were happy to speak German in front of the whole auditorium which was impressive. They had a great time learning how to analyse pivotal scenes from their chosen film, Goodbye, Lenin!, before enjoying an introduced screening of it in the afternoon.
