News Italian Cultural Trip: Ciné Lumière 02.10.2024

On Monday eighteen Year 11, Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth Italian students visited the Ciné Lumière in South Kensington for an Italian Cultural morning organised by the Anti Mafia Association. They learnt about organised crime in Italy through a private screening of I Cento Passi, a biographical drama film about the life of Peppino Impastato. Impastato was a left wing political activist who was brutally murdered after standing up against the Mafia and testifying against his own family. Following the film, the girls engaged in a fascinating discussion with Impastato’s niece, who is now president of the Association. For our students it was a revealing insight into the reality of life under the mafia in contrast to how it has often been portrayed in Hollywood films .
