50 enthusiastic Year 8 students had an early start on the first Monday of half-term, setting off for Inverclyde National Sports Centre in Scotland, where a jam-packed schedule of sports and team-building activities awaited.
Upon arrival, the students jumped straight into the action, beginning with a team trust exercise that involved navigating a forest while blindfolded, using only a rope to guide them. Screams of excitement echoed through the trees as the girls encouraged each other to complete the challenge, setting the tone for a week of camaraderie and adventure.
The first day continued with indoor sports activities, including pickleball – an energetic game that quickly became a favourite among the group and might soon find its way into the school’s curriculum. Students also enjoyed archery and a gymnastics session, where they tried swinging from high bars and performing trampoline somersaults. The gymnastics activities were certainly a highlight for many and added a memorable twist to the trip.
In the evening, the girls relaxed with a showing of High School Musical before heading to bed early to recharge for day two’s activities. Tuesday began with a scenic hill walk that offered breathtaking views over the sea, followed by a series of climbing and orienteering exercises that sparked some friendly competition. The day wrapped up with a quiz night, where the girls showcased their sharp problem-solving skills, especially in the countdown round – a testament to their teachers’ hard work!
On the final day, students embraced Scottish culture with a lively session of traditional dancing, team-building exercises, and a friendly game of handball. Before departing for the airport, they enjoyed one last walk to the beach, savouring the fresh coastal air and reflecting on a trip filled with new experiences and strong friendships.
