News Godolphin’s Sporting Successes 21.11.2019
We have had some fantastic results in sport over the last week, with successes at both regional and national level for netball, hockey, rowing and cross country to celebrate.
We were delighted to see our U12, U14 and U18 netball teams win all of their Sisters in Sport cup matches. The U18 match was extremely tense, with extra-time needed after finishing 30-30 in normal time. In a nail-biting finale, Godolphin grabbed the second goal in the fifteenth minute of extra-time for a 41-39. The U16 and U18s also qualified for the regional finals of the National Schools’ netball tournament that will take place in January.
In hockey, the U14s played in the regional finals, narrowly missing out on the south finals. Our U16 indoor team achieved the school’s best ever result by making it through to the south finals, having come second at their regional finals on Monday. .
Last weekend, three Sixth Form students took part in the Junior Rowing Trials for the GB team at Boston, Lincolnshire. Our three Godolphin representatives – Aurelia, Alex and Caroline – put in some excellent performances and finished 2nd, 11th and 99th out of 122 respectively.
We were also delighted for Izzy Franco who won the U20 London Cross Country Championships and for Kate Price who finished 18th. Huge credit to the girls and to the P.E. department as all of these ran alongside a whopping 36(!) friendly fixtures that took place over the last seven days.
