News Godolphin Delegates Shine at Westminster Model United Nations Conference 19.03.2025
Our final Model United Nations conference of the spring term was a dynamic two-day event at Westminster School.
Godolphin students represented the UK and Russia, with our MUN captains, Alexia and Unaiza, invited by Westminster to serve as Chairs — an honour reflecting their outstanding achievements in MUN. Throughout the weekend, students tackled a broad range of global issues, including mining rights in space, the civil war in Sudan, the reunification of Korea, and nuclear energy policy. A particular highlight was the General Assembly, where both of our delegations played a pivotal role in debating a hypothetical crisis: the invasion of Greenland — an especially lively and engaging session!
This was another hugely successful conference for our team, as our students secured the overall ‘Best Delegation’ award for the third consecutive time — a testament to their boldness, networking skills, and quick thinking. Special recognition goes to Lower Sixth student Alara and Year 11 students Aphra, Aitana, Carolina, Hannah, and Rania, all of whom contributed significantly as part of the Russian delegation. Enormous credit is also due to Unaiza and Alexia, whose leadership has been instrumental in running our weekly training and conference sessions.
Several students also received individual awards, further cementing our success:
- Zeynep (Year 11) – Highly Commended Delegate, Security Council
- Carolina (Year 11) – Best Delegate, ECOFIN
- Hannah (Year 11) – Best Delegate, DISEC
- Rania (Year 11) – Highly Commended Delegate, HRC
- Aitana (Year 11) – Best Delegate, UNEP
Set against the stunning backdrop of Dean’s Yard, Westminster Abbey, and Parliament, the conference provided the perfect setting for rigorous and high-quality debate. A heartfelt thank you to Mr Brown and the Westminster students for their excellent organisation and warm hospitality.
