News Gender Workshop with Turn of Phrase 09.12.2021

On Tuesday this week, Year 10 students participated in a workshop run by communications and theatre company Turn of Phrase with a focus on gender.

The interactive workshop focused on a number of topics such as the shifting definitions of gender, gender stereotypes and key movements such as MeToo and Everyone’s Invited. The influence of social media was a key element of discussion alongside a scenario activity in which the student acted as parents, senior teachers and governors in a strategy meeting discussing an anonymous case study on consent and sexual assault.

The students enjoyed the opportunity to discuss these topics and we are hopeful that these conversations will continue in future sessions that we are planning to run.
