News From Absolutism to Revolution: Upper Sixth historians explore Paris 12.11.2024
Upper Sixth historians enjoyed a whirlwind trip to Paris last weekend to experience some of the key parts of their courses firsthand.
Students visited the Army Museum, the Museum of the History of Paris and enjoyed a guided tour of Versailles. It provided a wonderful opportunity for the students to teach each other about their respective courses and draw links between them. The Early Modernists were able to explain the importance of Versailles for Louis XIV’s absolutism, while the Modernists were able to explain how such absolutist policies eventually caused the downfall of the French monarchy.
Despite the packed itinerary there was also time for a boat trip along the Seine, vintage shopping, and enough patisserie to fuel these adventures. Many thanks to Ms Triccas for her Parisian expertise!
