News Eco-Schools Green Flag Award 16.01.2025

We were delighted to receive the news that Godolphin and Latymer has achieved Eco-Schools accreditation, earning the esteemed Green Flag Award for our dedication to environmental initiatives throughout the 2023–2024 academic year.

Eco-Schools is a global initiative designed to encourage and empower young people to take an active role in protecting the environment. Established by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), the programme operates in over 70 countries and helps schools integrate sustainable practices into their daily activities.

The Sustainability Committee, led by Year 11 students Hebe, Amaryllis, My-Lan and Elise, followed Eco-Schools’ seven-step framework, addressing key environmental issues like waste reduction, biodiversity, and energy conservation. The Eco-Schools team praised their efforts, highlighting the detailed action plan, innovative curriculum links, and community engagement. Initiatives included publishing the Greenspiration newsletter, hosting climate journalist Alice Aedy, participating in The Big Plastic Count, and collaborating with organisations like Transform Our World and the London Schools Eco-Network.

This accreditation reflects the passion and commitment of students and staff alike, marking a milestone in the school’s journey toward sustainability. The committee hopes to build on this success and continue fostering environmental awareness across the community.
