News Debating with Tiffin School 18.06.2020

Last Thursday Godolphin students took on students from Tiffin School in an online debate. The motion was ‘this house would pay reparations for slavery’ – especially topical in the wake of the news that two major British firms Lloyd’s of London and Greene King announced that they will make payments to benefit the BAME community and promote diversity.

There was much impassioned, well informed and thought-provoking discussion of the best way to deal with the legacy of the slave trade, particularly in the light of the emergence of the Black Lives Matter movement.
