News Choral Evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral 12.10.2022
On Monday evening the combined Godolphin and Latymer chamber choirs performed the ancient service of choral evensong in the incredible setting of St Paul’s cathedral.
The choir expertly delivered a programme of music which was, apart from the psalm chant, composed by living English composers: the responses were to a setting by Stephen Darlington, who was Mr Osiatynski’s tutor and director at Christ Church, Oxford; the canticles were set by organist and jazz musician Wayne Marshall; and the anthem was ‘The Call of Wisdom’, composed by Will Todd for Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee service in St Paul’s a little over ten years ago. The clergy of St Paul’s were highly appreciative of the girls’ precision, clarity and evident enjoyment of the music – as was their director!
Further evensong services later this year will include the Senior Chamber Choir joining forces with the choir of Radley College at Westminster Abbey, before a return to St Albans in May.
