Last week, eleven budding songwriters in Years 9-11 attended an event run by Song Academy at YouTube Music’s offices. The event included a Q&A with some top producers, a talk about YouTube Music, a tour of their state-of-the-art facilities, and the chance to connect with like-minded musicians.
Upon arrival, the young artists mingled with fellow songwriters before Rowena Atkins, the founder of Song Academy, gave an overview of the night’s agenda. The highlight of the night was an illuminating Q&A session with prominent songwriters and producers, including the renowned Jason Julian. Their discussion offered invaluable insights into the music industry, covering everything from the nuances of successful collaboration to the personal records that most influenced their careers.
Year 10 student Annabel who attended the event said, ‘The advice given by the panel was so inspiring and catered to everyone at the event no matter their experience.
