News Bridge Seniors 24.08.2023
Towards the end of the Summer holidays we were delighted to welcome over twenty Year 10 students who are about to go into Year 11, to our very first Bridge Seniors programme of talks and workshops.
Students joined us from Cumberland Community School, Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School, Fulham Cross Girls School, Ark Acton, Ark Putney, Saint Thomas Moore Language College, and Saint Gabriel’s College.
Running over five afternoons, the programme provided a series of talks and workshops from Godolphin teachers to enrich and extend understanding across a range of disciplines based on five themes: Individuals and Societies; Maths in Action; Science and Nature; Language and Culture; Literature and the Arts. The sessions had a strong focus on developing problem solving skills; bridging GCSE and Sixth form style of learning; generating excitement in subject matter; stretch and challenge; enquiry-based learning – with a need-to-know approach; collaboration; and facilitating leadership and presentation skills. We also offered support to students and parents who are considering applying for a bursary to join the Sixth Form at Godolphin and Latymer school.
It is hoped that following the week, students will undertake some research into one of the themes, and produce an extended project (a written report or an artefact) by half term, for which they will receive written feedback from a teacher at Godolphin and Latymer school.
