News Antara’s Poetry Debut Contributes to £450,000 Raised for Education in India 21.11.2024
At the beginning of November, Upper Sixth student Antara officially launched her debut poetry collection, Poison, at the Pratham UK Charity Gala. The Gala is an annual event dedicated to raising funds for education in India.
In an inspiring evening presented by celebrity Rory Bremner, Antara captivated an audience of philanthropists, educators, and fellow writers with her uplifting keynote speech. The Gala raised an incredible £450,000 for Pratham UK’s ‘Second Chance Programme,’ which funds the education of women and girls in India who have had to drop out of school, and allows them to complete their diplomas. Antara was also invited to read some of her poems, sparking thoughtful conversation on the themes of resilience and transformation. Her commitment to donate all proceeds from book sales to Pratham UK’s educational initiatives was met with admiration.
Congratulations to Antara on this successful launch — a promising beginning for an author who’s already making waves both on paper and in the real world and a great ambassador for the high standards of oracy achieved by our students at Godolphin and Latymer.
