News PSHE Round-up 12.12.2024
In recent school assemblies and workshops, our students have been exploring a range of important topics as part of the PSHE/RSE programme, aimed at supporting their personal development and well-being.
At the beginning of the term, Social Jess worked with Year 7 students, offering practical tips on managing social media use, and many expressed a strong desire to reduce their screen time. Year 8 students took part in a puberty workshop, where they learned about various types of sanitary products, including sustainable options, and were introduced to the issue of period poverty in the UK. Year 10 students engaged in the Everyone’s Invited assembly, which focused on healthy relationships. They explored the differences between flirting and harassment and learned to identify positive (green) and harmful (red) behaviours.
Bob Tait led informative sessions with Year 11, Lower Sixth students and parents on the consequences of drug and alcohol use, covering its impact on school, university life, and travel abroad. These evidence-based sessions sparked strong engagement.
To close out the term and year, It Happens Education have delivered workshops for Lower Sixth students on sexual health, and for Year 9 students on vaping as part of their ‘harm reduction’ education. Additionally, Upper Sixth students heard from Allison Havey on the impact of pornography on relationships, providing valuable insights for their personal development.
Looking ahead, our Head Girls Team are collaborating with their counterparts at Hampton School on a workshop for Year 10 students, to be delivered in the Spring Term. This will focus on managing failure, delivered through interactive, small-group discussions which will explore the topic from both girls’ and boys’ perspectives.
Our newly launched PSHE newsletter will continue to be sent out each term to keep you informed about our speaker programme, designed for both students and parents. It will include the latest research and insights on key topics that are currently making waves in the media and impacting our young adults today.
As always, please feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss the PSHE/RSE provision at Godolphin in more detail.
