News GiANT Leadership Steps for Year 9, 10 and 11 Students 18.11.2024
On Friday 15 November we were delighted to welcome Steve Cockram, Founder of GiANT, a leadership consultancy which works with global clients such as Google, Apple, and Nike and the UK Cabinet Office and Foreign Office.
Mr Cockram ran sessions with students from Years 9, 10 and 11 – and with staff – based on GiANT’S 5 Voice Framework which helps participates to identify their key leadership voice and harness their superpowers to be better communicators, collaborators and leaders in the school and work environment.
The GiANT method invited our students to rate their leadership voice as Green/Yellow/Red (and shades of!) according to the pen-portraits they most identified with (it was also interesting to compare with overall ratings from corporate leaders and participants): Nurturer – (43% average corporate participant); Creative – (9%); Guardian – (30%); Connector – (11%); Pioneer (7%). The ‘pen-portrait’ consisted of a list of key strengths but also the key challenges for each Voice. It was fascinating to see that our students had a much higher propensity to be a Pioneer than the average participant. Students were then invited to choose one challenge to focus on to help with their development as leaders.
This was a fascinating exercise and introductory insight into the tools GiANT offers to develop effective leadership and we were very grateful to Mr Cockram for delivering such an engaging and stimulating session to our leadership hopefuls and budding pioneers.
