News Senior House Music Competition 2024 18.10.2024
Just before the October half-term break we held our much anticipated Senior House Music Competition with a record number of 63 entries. Pupils competed in a range of classes arranged by standard (Class 1 = Grades 3-5; Class 2 = Grades 6-7; Class 3 = Grade 8+). We were very fortunate to welcome Miss Ariane Zandi (international prize-winning cellist) as our adjudicator for the early rounds. The standard of entry was immensely high, and all pupils should be congratulated on their fabulous performances.
The final of the competition took place on Thursday evening, featuring the winners of all of the individual classes performing to an appreciative audience of parents and supporters. The adjudicator, Mr David Whitson, (formerly principal trombonist of the English National Opera) commented on how immensely difficult it was to choose the winners with such an outstanding calibre of the music-making and performance across the board. Many congratulations to all of the performers, and particularly the winners: Emily, Year 11, Class 2; Inez, Lower Sixth, Class 3; Sofia, Lower Sixth, Vocal Classes; and Amaira, Amabelle, and Sarah, Year 10, Ensembles & Duets. Bravo!
