News Model United Nations Conference at Wetherby Senior School 17.10.2024
Last weekend, the Model United Nations Society (MUN) attended a conference at Wetherby Senior School in Marylebone. This was the first full weekend conference attended by Godolphin in the past year, lasting from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening and included a social event with the other schools on Saturday evening. The team of fifteen included students from Year 11 through to the Upper Sixth and were joined by schools from across London and delegations that flew in from Jordan and Latvia.
A year ago, many of the Godolphin delegation were just starting their MUN journey and were happy to have resolutions accepted for debate and to be called to deliver presentations. Now, they are veterans who aim to win awards, and at this conference they were extremely successful! Six committees debated resolutions during the Saturday sessions and Godolphin students were awarded Best Delegate in five of them, with three more receiving honourable mentions. At the General Assembly, that dominated Sunday sessions, Godolphin won the handsome Best Delegation trophy.
Unlike most MUN conferences, this one included a social event on Saturday evening, which was an additional opportunity to get to know other delegates including those from other countries. It made for a long, tiring, weekend but extremely rewarding and fulfilling for the Godolphin delegation.
