News World Mental Health Day 10.10.2024
On Thursday, the school considered the importance of our mental well-being with a series of activities and talks for World Mental Health Day.
The day kicked off with an inspiring whole school assembly from NHS GP, author, and television and radio broadcaster, Dr Radha. As a GP and an expert in health and well-being, Dr Radha has witnessed first-hand how many people struggle with their wellbeing and the taboos that surround talking about it. Her assembly focused on the importance of self-care and reaching out for support.
In the afternoon, students took part in a number of activities that catered to different interests and promoted relaxation, creativity, and physical health. For those looking to unwind, there was colouring, reading and crafts like bracelet making, Lego building, and cross stitching. The Drama Studio hosted a Laban workshop, encouraging students to explore their emotions through movement. Physical activities included football on the astro, climbing in the Sports Hall, and Just Dance in the Hall all providing fun ways to boost endorphins, while music and social activities like choral singing, Disco Bingo and karaoke, brought students together.
World Mental Health Day was a resounding success, demonstrating the importance of prioritising our own mental health and well-being.
