News Shortlist: Independent School of the Year for Outstanding Educational Partnerships 06.08.2024

We are absolutely thrilled to end the academic year with the news that Godolphin and Latymer has been shortlisted for Independent School of the Year 2024 for outstanding educational partnerships.

This is in recognition of the many longstanding and ongoing projects that share our resources, activities and facilities with local primary and secondary school students. In 2023 our staff and students worked with over 500 pupils from 58 local state schools creating academic and extra-curricular opportunities including support for university applications, languages, mathematics, engineering, computer science, music, drama and sport. Projects like our Bridge academic enrichment programme for local primary school children have a broad educational impact: the vast majority of Bridge students go on to apply for academically selective schools including the five Bridge students who joined Godolphin in September 2023 and the eight who will join in September 2024.

This year we integrated G&L Futures as part of our partnership programme so that students from other schools benefited from working with local organisations and businesses to develop entrepreneurial, business and problem-solving skills. Examples include our project with Team Repair where 90 Year 7 students from a partner school took part in workshops and challenges to fix games consoles mentored by Year 10 Godolphin students and Physics teachers. Our Bridge students also took part in a project run with the LSE Generate entrepreneur and founder of Mighty Slice and, with the help of our Sixth Form Bridge ambassadors, developed and presented ideas for new product development.

Working on these projects together, all students involved become more worldly, empathetic and informed while developing skills in problem-solving, collaboration and leadership. Looking ahead to the future, we remain committed to our educational partnerships programme.
