News Lavinia awarded prestigious Lester B. Pearson Scholarship by the University of Toronto 20.06.2024

Congratulations to Lavinia, Upper Sixth, who is one of 38 recipients of the prestigious Lester B. Pearson Scholarship which is offered by the University of Toronto to outstanding international students.

The Pearson Scholarship is intended to recognise students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and creativity and who are recognised as leaders within their school. Covering the full cost of attending the University for four years, the scholarship programme places special emphasis on the impact the student has had on the life of their school and community, and their future potential to contribute positively to the global community.

Reflecting on her application journey Lavinia commented, ‘I wouldn’t have made it this far without the support of the school and Higher Education team – they were always there to help, kindly providing me with guidance at every step of the journey. The essays really pushed me to reflect on my experiences, motivations, and aspirations for the future. Having now met my fellow scholars, I am in awe of the truly global nature of this cohort. I know there will be so much to discover as part of this vibrant, tight-knit community which I am honoured to be a part of.’

Lavinia will study Life Sciences in the Faculty of Arts and Science and is keen to pursue biomedical research.
