News Working Lunches: Simon Taor 23.02.2024
We were delighted to welcome Godolphin parent Simon Taor to speak at this week’s Working Lunch.
Simon is a partner at Venner Shipley where he is a European and Chartered Patent Attorney in the Electronics, Software and Communications team. Students learnt that the first English patent for invention was granted by King Henry IV in 1449 to a Flemish-born stained glass manufacturer and were able to see an example of a modern patent application. Simon shared his varied experience in drafting and prosecuting UK and European patent applications in a large number of fields from general mechanical and electrical work through to Internet related subject matter and computer implemented inventions. Simon explained how this can be an interesting career option for science graduates who do not want to pursue a pure science and have the communication skills to explain complicated concepts and argue the case for their clients.
We would like to thank Simon wholeheartedly for supporting the G&L Futures careers programme.
