News Senior Production: ‘Our Country’s Good’ 10.12.2021

Held over two nights in the Bishop Centre, the student-led Senior Production of Timberlake Wertenbaker’s Our Country’s Good showcased the outstanding technical skill and theatricality of our Drama students.

Our Country’s Good tells the story of members of the British Navy and convicts in a penal colony putting on a play in 18th-century New South Wales, exploring themes of colonialism, authority, transgression and the power of narrative. Led creatively by our Theatre Captain Daisy and her two assistant directors Lyla and Alexandra, the cast consisted of students in Year 11 and the Sixth Form, with superb performances from the strong cast of young performers. The technical side of the production was led by the diligent and passionate Tech Captains, Adrian, Ruby and Alexander.

On her directorial debut Daisy said, ‘Putting on this production was such a privilege to be a part of. The storyline emphasises the importance of theatre in a community, and after participating in so much drama at Godolphin over the last six years, I felt this reflected the incredible impact it has had on mine, and so many others’, Godolphin experience. It was one of the most exciting challenges I have ever taken on, and I am so grateful for the experience and proud of the final performance.’

The production was most impressive and a tremendous success and we would like to wish a hearty congratulations to all the cast and crew involved.
