News Wings of Hope Achievement Award 25.09.2020

Congratulations to Kenisa in Year 11 who has raised an incredible £7,236 for Wings of Hope – a charity which supports the education of children in Malawi and India – through a series of fundraising initiatives as part of the Wings of Hope Achievement Award.

The Wings of Hope Achievement Award is a nationally recognised social enterprise programme created in 2005 where students in years 9 to the Upper Sixth work in small teams to run fundraising projects for the Wings of Hope Children’s Charity. The aims of the programme are a valued contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, as part of achieving Goals 1, 3, 4 and 5 –  ‘Ensure good health and wellbeing and  inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’.

Working alongside her cousins, Kenisa competed against many different teams around the country and through a series of fundraising events – such as bake sales, car boot sales, selling traditional snacks at her temple and even organising a concert – managed to raise a total of £7,236. Her team’s fantastic contribution saw them run out as the overall winners of the competition, and as a result, Wings of Hope will be taking Kenisa and her cousins on a trip to India to visit and help one of the schools that they fundraised for.
