News PPE Forum: Action Aid 20.09.2019
We were delighted to welcome Olivia Dandeker of Action Aid – a charity designed to protect the most vulnerable women and girls in some of the poorest parts of the world – to talk to Sixth Form students at the first PPE Forum of the new school year.
Addressing the questions of how charities function effectively and ethically in the twenty-first century, she explored a range of important and provocative issues, engaging a large audience of Sixth Form girls on matters such as ethical fundraising and cultural relativism. The session focused in particular on the issue of period poverty in both the developed and the developing world, and what can be done to address the problem before a lively discussion ensued.
The Politics Department hopes to be able to do more work alongside ActionAid in the future and thank Olivia for a fascinating and insightful talk into the work that they do.
