News Success for Godolphin Rowers 10.05.2019
The school was represented with distinction across the globe by current students and Old Dolphins in a successful weekend for Godolphin rowers.
Alex Riddell-Webster in Lower Sixth, our first ever rower to be selected for Great Britain, competed in the GB Junior Women’s coxless four at the International Munich Junior Regatta. Alex, who was one of 33 athletes from twenty clubs across the country that were selected to represent Great Britain at the Regatta, finished second in the JW Pair and won gold in the JW Four.
On Sunday, our J16 and J18 rowers raced in the Wallingford Regatta, with some fine performances which included a third-placed finish against adult-aged competition in the Women’s Challenge Coxed Fours.
In the prestigious Ivy League sports in the United States, recent leaver India Colegrave, our Captain of Boats 2017-18, was selected to row for Columbia Women’s First VIII – a fine achievement for a first year student. Columbia performed outstandingly to win bronze behind Rutgers and Harvard-Radcliffe.
And there was further cause for celebration as another of our Old Dolphins, Emily Lindberg, won gold in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Regatta for the University of London. She has also been selected to row for the Great Britain U23 Development Squad at the Duisburg Regatta this coming weekend.
Huge congratulations to all those who participated and for making the school immensely proud.
