Secondary School PartnershipsLearning from each other

We have a number of enriching partnerships with state-sector secondary schools including Kensington Aldridge Academy, Greenford High School and Westminster City School. Our Higher Education department runs a series of University Application and Interview Preparation Workshops and US Universities Open Days.

Every other year we also welcome over 250 Year 10-12 students from a large number of state secondary schools to our Higher Education Undiscovered Subjects Programme covering university subjects not traditionally taught in school. In 2021 during the pandemic this was relaunched as a series of 30 – 40-minute lectures delivered remotely throughout February and March and was supported by a large number of leading academics from UK universities. As always the lectures were well attended by students from our state partner senior schools: West London Free School, Sacred Heart, Lady Margaret’s, Greenford High School, Cardinal Vaughan and Kensington Aldridge Academy. In 2023 the programme included lectures with:

In 2022 we launched an Evening of Academic Conversation where students from state secondary school joined us for a formal dinner for students and invited experts from a range of academic fields for high level academic engagement and debate.

In addition, the Maths department is a key partner with Magdalen College School to conduct mock interviews for state school students from Oxfordshire and beyond for Maths, Computer Science and Engineering.

Kensington Aldridge Academy

Kensington Aldridge Academy Kensington Aldridge Academy – Educational Partner

We are particularly proud to be an educational partner of Kensington Aldridge Academy (KAA), along with Charterhouse School. The aim of the partnership is to share best practice in educational excellence across all the schools and to learn from each other.

In addition, KAA students join us for our Entrepreneurship Programme, our Politics Conference, Debating, Modern Language theatre productions, and creative writing workshops. KAA Sixth Form girls take A Levels at Godolphin and Latymer in subjects not offered at their school, such as Mandarin, History of Art, Classics and Italian

For staff, activities include: professional staff development days attended by all three schools sharing ideas and development of new initiatives around topics such as: Use of iPads – to enhance teaching and learning; Delivering Outstanding Pastoral Care; Generating Effective and Supportive Lesson Observations through the use of video software; The Role of Metacognition in the Classroom; Generating High Quality Lessons at Key Stage 5. There are staff links between departments including Geography, Music, Modern Languages and English.

Undiscovered Subjects Undiscovered University Subjects’ Taster Day and Fair

This event aims to introduce students to some of the courses available in higher education which are not normally included within the school curriculum; these courses are often overlooked by students choosing what to study at degree level, simply because they are not fully aware of what the subject involves. The day also offers advice on writing Personal Statements and a University Fair where University representatives offer guidance and advice. Over 250 students attend the event including pupils from seven or eight local state secondary schools.

Our Higher Education department organises a series of University Application and Interview Preparation Workshops, In November, Godolphin teachers hold practice interviews with students from West London Free School and Kensington Aldridge Academy to support their applications to competitive university courses. In May every year, several local partnership schools join us for UKCAT & BMAT workshops provided by The Medic Portal (these are both university admissions tests for Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences) and we also host an Oxbridge Saturday Workshop organised and supported by teaching staff.

Teachers from the Maths department link up with Magdalen College School to conduct mock interviews for state school students from Oxfordshire and beyond for Maths, Computer Science and Engineering. Maths preparation worksheets are issued and feedback given over the six weeks of summer.

In Summer 2021 pupils attended from Oxford, Liverpool, Telford, Leeds, Chelmsford, Nottingham, Liverpool, Kingston upon Thames, Bournemouth, Bromley and Warrington.
