Social Impact ProjectsReal Potential to Improve Lives

Students join Social Impact Action Groups to develop projects that can really make a difference to the local community. They make an individual or group submission to design a social impact project and provide a detailed proposal outlining the objectives, how it would be implemented, and the likely costs. The projects need to show evidence of having real potential to improve the lives of others and to achieve maximum impact, and to have the potential to be sustained beyond the students’ time at the school.

Recent projects include:

Musical Theatre with Flora Gardens Primary School

Year 10 members of the Social Impact Committee showcased their creativity and leadership skills by devising a drama and musical theatre workshop with students from Flora Gardens Primary School. The event was designed to engage and inspire students in Year 5 and Year 6 through the art of improvisation in performance.

Dementia workshops in the local community

Lower Sixth students May, Georgia and Millie recently made a significant impact in our local community by delivering a series of art workshops for a group of dementia and pre-dementia sufferers. Organised in collaboration with the Hammersmith and Fulham Dementia Action Alliance, the workshops aimed to provide a creative and therapeutic outlet for the participants.

Students who develop projects are also invited to submit their projects for the Social Impact Prize, where students present their ideas to our judging panel, Head, Dr Ramsey, Governors and members of the Khemka family, who initiated and very generously sponsored the project.

The winners  of our 2022-23 prize were:

Junior Social Impact Prize:
Children’s Awareness by Leila Corcoran and Arabella Sharma
The Maximus Project by Ariane Ataullah

Senior Social Impact Prize:
Feeding the Future by Dia Khosla, Fleur Kirkland, Lila Carr and Beatrice Mills,
Art Asaurus by Emmie Gilbert, Sofia Carr, Charlotte Long and Tilly McLean

Pupils’ social development is excellent, evidenced in a multitude of ways. They are proactive and highly motivated. For example, the social impact committee has engaged the whole school in supporting Hammersmith and Fulham Council foodbanks.
