University Preparation One-to-one support

In the Sixth Form our students receive ongoing one-to-one support as they focus their sights on University and Higher Education. Particularly useful is the Undiscovered Subject Taster Day for Year 11 and Sixth Formers – attended by our partner schools too – which is a day of taster lectures given by university academics to discover degree courses that are not common subjects taught within the school curriculum plus a Universities Careers Fair. The Higher Education Preparation Programme begins in the summer term of the Lower Sixth and is a substantial and custom-made programme covering important areas such as Personal Statement writing and university subject enrichment.

University Applications Bespoke advice

The HE Forum’s subject-specific talks provide indispensable advice to students on how to start shortlisting their options. They will receive bespoke advice on university aspirations and a strong programme of support is tailored to each individual. There is expert advice for students applying to Oxford, Cambridge and medical schools. All students have access as required to interview practice and preparation for additional university entrance tests.

Overseas Universities Help with the application process

The team is well-versed in university applications to the US, Canada, Ireland, Europe and far-flung destinations such as Australia and Asia. We provide information and advice on applying to American universities including accessing scholarships or financial aid and access to ACT preparation courses. We organise regular visits from admissions tutors and lecturers from leading universities.
The following US Colleges have visited Godolphin over the last few years: Columbia, Duke, Georgetown, Northwestern, Princeton, Vanderbilt, Barnard, Brown, Chicago, Dartmouth, Tufts and Penn.

Universities Fair Universities from across the UK, US and Europe

In March 2024 we held our inaugural university fair for students in Years 10 to the Lower Sixth as well as students from other local secondary schools.

Over thirty providers from the UK, US and Europe attended, providing a valuable opportunity for students to explore a diverse range of higher education options and pathways. Representatives on stands in the Bishop Centre were available to answer questions and provide information about their respective institutions and there was also a selection of talks on medical admissions, global applications, degree apprenticeship pathways and Oxbridge admissions.

University interview exchange evening Practice interviews with partner schools

The Higher Education department host an Interview Exchange Evening, inviting 144 students from local schools to have practice interviews in support of their higher education applications. Students and teachers from Godolphin and Latymer, Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School, West London Free School, Kensington Aldridge Academy, St Mary’s Ascot and other local schools all come together to engage in stimulating conversations and take part in some interview practice.

UNDISCOVERED sUBJECTS University subjects not taught in schools

The Higher Education Undiscovered Subjects Event is for Year 10-12 students, including students from our partner secondary schools and is run every two years. Universities deliver lectures on subjects not traditionally taught in schools including vocational courses such as law, pharmacy, design engineering, criminology, computer science, architecture etc. Details of our 2023 programme can be found here.
